Circle Z Ranch
Mission
Circle Z Ranch is the oldest continually operating guest ranch in Arizona. With such a rich history, we were honored to be trusted with the challenge of a logo redesign. The third generation owners approached our creative team looking to portray a more contemporary feel while keeping true to the deep and historic origins. “Most of all, we wanted to represent the reverence we hold for the foundation of our ranch: our horses”
The logo was to be used in a number of ways, including the website, print and digital materials as well as embroidered on ranch wear items in the Circle Z Ranch gift shop!

Outcome
The updated logo was received very well by long time ranch goers and those familiar with the history of the ranch. The branding was rolled out successfully on all the intended channels and the history of the ranch was given new life for guests, now and for many years to come.
The Challenge
Represent the history of the ranch, exuding the simplicity of life there, along with the authenticity they continue to offer their guests
Circle Z Ranch’s original Logo was a simple Z in a circle, the standard for many guest ranches. The visual form that is so widely accepted coupled with the nearly century-long history of the ranch, it was a tall task to tackle knowing that many had such a deep meaningful connection to the ranch and its brand. Not to mention the difficulty of accurately portraying the horse anatomy in the bowing position.
The Transformation
A purple and terracotta color scheme was chosen for the branding, keeping true to the desert roots. The horse in the logo was carefully crafted to represent an iconic image from the ranch showing Mrs. Zinsmeister, the original ranch owner, and her horse El Sultan, the original ranch stallion, bowing in front of the ranch gate.
The updated logo will serve as key visual for guests of the ranch to remember. When they see the bowing horse and the letter Z in the circle, they’ll be reminded of the fond memories they created while enjoying their time in the beautiful Arizona Desert.
